The main features of the Axell-developed compression and decompression technology is in its design as the compression algorithm stage, which reduces the load to the CPU. We are also developing technology that responds to required functions and market needs according to our image of the specific markets and devices to be used.
The "RM1" is a dynamic image compression and decompression technology developed by Axell, optimum for amusement systems. This technology boasts high compression capabilities and high image quality that exceeds MPEG used in a wide variety of devices such as DVDs, and enables high compressibility for images with sharp outlines such as character data and animation images.
The “RM2” is a dynamic image compression and decompression technology developed by AXELL, optimum for amusement systems. It has successor technology for “RM1”compression and decompression technology which is loaded into graphics LSI “AG-2”. We try to make it become increasingly sophisticated about drawing functions of graphics LSIs.
・
3 to 4 times decode speed
AG-2: 40 million dot/s →AG-3: 150 million dot/s
・
Approximately 10 times encode speed
・
Further alleviation of block-noise
・
α channel (8-bit)
・
Measures for noises of checksum embedment to compressed data
The "RS1" is a still image compression and decompression technology that achieves high-speed processing and high image quality at high compressibility. This technology assumes extended recording time at high compressibility, and was developed according to our view that it would be used in systems that require images with frame stability. The “RS1” enables display of still images through high-speed imaging of compressed & expanded images with the AG902, and as smooth, high quality dynamic images.
The "RS2" is a still image compression and decompression technology that achieves compact, high-speed JPEG2000 class high compression and high quality image compression. The compression and decompression technologies our company has developed up to now were for implementing to graphics LSI products, so we focused on this development as a compression and decompression LSI beyond just implementation to LSI products.
